Louis de Bourbon,
Count of Montpensier

 

Louis de BOURBON († 1486), Count of Montpensier, Dauphin of Auvergne, Lord of Mercœur and Combrailles, then Count of Clermont and Sancerre. Brother of the previous, he was the second son of Jean Ier, duke of Bourbon, and of Marie de Berry. Married 1° in 1428 Jeanne (1412-1436), daughter of Béraud III de Clermont, Dauphin of Auvergne; 2° in 1442, Gabrielle, daughter of Bertrand VI de La Tour d'Auvergne. He died in May 1486. His son, Gilbert († 1496), Count of Montpensier, was the father of Charles III de Bourbon († 1527), Constable of France, who betrayed King François Ier and fought against the French army at Pavie.

Coat of Arms: Azure, three fleur-de-lis Or, a bend Gules with a dolphin Azure on a gobon Or. Crest: the double fleur-de-lis of France Or, wreath Argent and Gules, mantling Azure doubled Gules.
