Bertrand de La Tour
Count of Auvergne

 

Bertrand V de LA TOUR D'AUVERGNE, Baron of La Tour (La Tour-d’Auvergne, Puy-de-Dôme), Count of Auvergne (Cantal and Puy-de-Dôme) and of Boulogne (Boulogne-sur-Mer, Pas-de-Calais), Lord of Montgascon (Montgâcon, Puy-de-Dôme) et Montredon (Aydat's village, Puy-de-Dôme), is the son of Bertrand IV de La Tour d’Auvergne († 1423). He married Jacquette du Peschin († 1473). Bertrand de La Tour arrived  in Orléans on 24 January 1429 and then abandoned the city on 18 February 1429 with the others captains after the "Battle of the Herrings". Returned in Orleans on 4 May 1429, he would still be at Joan’s side at the relief of Orleans and during the Loire's campaign. He died in  March 1461.

 

Coat-of-arms : quarterly, 1st and 4th Azure semy de fleurs de lys Or a tower Argent  (La Tour), 2nd and 3rd Or a gonfalon Gules fringed Vert (Auvergne, overall an inescutcheon Or with 3 tortaus (Boulogne). Crest : a tower Argent sommed with a panache Vert, between 2 horns Or, Mantling Gules doubled Azure, twistle Vert and Azure.
